Apple Takes Away the Ability to Restore Legacy Devices

Today, Apple stopped signing firmware for several legacy devices.

The affected devices are:

• iPhone 4 (iPhone3,3), iOS 7.1.2
• iPhone 4s, iOS 6.1.3/8.4.1/9.3.5/9.3.6
• iPhone 5 (GSM and CDMA), iOS 8.4.1/10.3.3/10.3.4
• iPhone 5c (GSM and CDMA), iOS 10.3.3/10.3.4


• iPad 2 (iPad2,3 CDMA), iOS 6.1.3/8.4.1/9.3.5/9.3.6
• iPad 3 (iPad3,2 GSM), iOS 8.4.1/9.3.5/9.3.6
• iPad 4 (iPad3,5 and 3,6), iOS 8.4.1/9.3.5/9.3.6
• iPad mini (iPad2,6 and 2,7), iOS 8.4.1/9.3.5/9.3.6

This is not a usual unsigning event, as Apple only unsigned the baseband firmware, preventing the devices listed above from being restored, even with SHSH blobs.
